I was born in Austin, Texas and moved to the great PNW (near Seattle, Washington) in 2020. I have always been an artistic individual ever since I could hold a pencil, and I would draw and then go on to paint. I’ve always had a strong tendency to include organic subject matters in most all of my works.
Now, in school my favorite topic was science. Hands down. I loved learning about what made these creatures the way they were. Where are the similarities between them and us, and what makes each of us unique? In particular, I have always been especially curious about the perceived state of consciousness each of us has, and how there is absolutely no way to tell how similarly each of us truly digests the world around us. But of course, that’s what makes story telling so fun! Getting a glimpse into someone else’s state of mind is a beautiful thing.
I have decided to create this blog as a way to help document the things that have piqued my interest. I can’t help but dive into very specific, and what many people would consider very “random” things, in a very deep way. When I go down these bunny trails into the woods of informative literature in the form of books, podcasts, websites, scientific studies, etc., I have noticed a trend appearing more and more. Maybe I’m asking too much of these sources, but I find that most of the places I look usually only give a small portion of the whole story when it comes to an individual plant, mushroom, or ingredient in a given process. Or maybe I’m just more thirsty for knowledge than I once was.
I know for a fact that I managed to annoy every single one of my teachers/mentors with the sheer number of times I asked them “Why?” or “How?”, or better yet, “Why this way instead of that other way?” It may have come off like I was questioning their knowledge on the subject as a way to judge their authority over me on it. But then again, they probably saw it a waste of time to teach more than the curriculum called for. Either way, they would end up flustered, and my curiosity would generally not be sated.
I want anyone who comes across any of my posts to feel comfortable asking those questions. I don’t get tired of trying to figure out those answers, and if you’re a weirdo in that same way too, then let’s go on this journey together and learn, document, and revel in all these crazy cool things in the natural world around us together!
